This is not a cute testimonial written by marketing geniuses. I’m a
Journalist living in California and spend a great deal of time traveling
in foreign lands. After 30 years of smoking, drinking coffee, tea and red
wine, my teeth were the color of tree bark. I’m not exactly a poster boy
for good dental care.
I needed a partial for my lower teeth to replace missing molars. I had
cavities and a chipped front tooth. With no dental insurance, I looked
to alternative ways to get my teeth fixed. I tried a dental school, but
being a guinea pig was not the answer. I don’t really recall how or why
I searched the web for Mexican dentists, but am glad I did. I found Dr.
Max and e-mailed him. We set up an appointment for the following week.
Dr. Max is a 5-minute taxi ride, or a 30-minute walk from the
U.S./Mexico border. He has a very clean office in an industrial part of
Tijuana. Since I travel a great deal and like to walk (and get the best
deal), I stopped at a few other dentists first. The lowest price on a
partial was $275, and would be ready in 3 days.
When I told Dr. Max about this price, he said that’s fine, but he charged
$400, and there was no way that he would do it in 3 days. He told me that
the materials at different stages  had to set for 24 hours, that it was a
multi-part procedure. In perfect English, he explained what he had to do
to ensure the integrity of his product because he wanted me to be 100%
satisfied, and to be his patient 15 years from now.
He also consulted with me for an hour on what work I needed. He showed
me examples of his work, and the tools he would use. My thought was,
When was the last time a doctor in the States gave me more than 5 minutes!
He took an impression of my teeth and scheduled the next day for my
appointment.
At 9am he started out by bleaching my teeth. It took nearly 2 hours of
tedious work, but man, what a difference! I looked 10 years younger.
Then he fixed my chipped tooth, filled cavities and a few other cosmetics.
We spent about 6 hours that day and I learned a lot about Dr. Max.
In my opinion, not only is he an excellent, courteous doctor --
with an impeccable chair side manner -- but he and his family are welcome
in my home anytime. Dr. Max is a professional and a gentleman. Also, the
best part was not having appointments spread out over the next decade.
I was in and out in one day, then returned a week later to get my partial.
He’s got a lab for manufacturing partials and crowns right there, as well.
And don’t expect to wear a nitrous oxide mask and to be wired up to a
Sony Walkman with models dancing around. This is not a social club.
It is a serious work area. Thankfully.
My fears were Tijuana rinse water ( he uses distilled water), shoddy
materials and workmanship. Now, for someone like me who travels a great
deal, and have met many. Many fine foreign people, I surprised myself
with these biases. Like everyone with prejudices, I could not have been
more wrong.
Now I have white teeth and a jeweler-crafted lower partial made of the
best materials. I have no cavities and unashamedly smile and laugh so
much, my friends think I’m up to something.
I trust Dr. Max. I have paid for his services; so don’t owe him anything
including this testimonial. But, when you find a great deal and a good
man, you just want to tell everybody. If you have a question, I’ll take a
minute to testify on Dr. Max’s behalf. His integrity is beyond reproach,
his work is brilliant, his office is clean, he does what he says he’s
going to do, you know how much it will cost up front... etc.
I don’t know what else to say. My father is 84 and is going down to see
him first of the year.
I wish I knew about Dr. Max years ago. I also wish he was a car
mechanic. I’ve got a Honda that’s been sitting in the back for years.
He’d have it running like a fine Swiss watch.
I highly recommend Dr. Max.

I recently returned from my dentist appointment with Dr. Max in Tijuana.  For years I have been struggling with the costs of dental work.  Every 3-4 years I was putting out 10,000-15,000 dollars.  The work I paid so much for in the States was never really done right and that is why I've continued to put a fortune out in dental work. Most all my teeth were bridges and root canals with no posts, so the tooth would break off at the gum line.  I had several estimates in the states, all around 20,000.00 dollars.  Not only was my visit pleasant, but I also saved almost 11,000.00 dollars.  Even with the cost of the hotel, flight and shopping, I still saved a lot.

I sent Max Corona my x-rays and impressions and he gave me my estimate over the phone.  We flew into San Diego and drove over to Tijuana and stayed at a nice five star hotel not far from his office.  I met with him a day before my surgery and he explained everything he was going to do and showed me the posts and implants he was going to be using.  Everything was top of the line. He is fluent in English which is good because I can't speak any Spanish.

I was a bit apprehensive before going but once I met Dr. Max and his staff I felt better. I have a major fear of dentist and dental pain but he made me feel comfortable. He had a certified Anesthesiologist, a surgical assistant and a nurse there, I felt safe.  He repaired broken teeth under bridges by rebuilding them added another implant and prepared a bone graft for another implant that will be placed when I return.  While my bone graft and implant is healing, he made very nice temporaries until I return in six months. Since he has a lab in his office he had the ability to make me great temporaries.  He showed me around his lab and I saw some of the crowns he was making for other patients and the work was absolutely beautiful.  I am looking forward to my next visit when I get my new porcelains.  My husband was so impressed that when we return he will also be having dental work done with him.

I went to a different dentist here at home to have a couple of stitches pulled, even he was impressed with my temporaries, prices and what Dr. Max had done for me. Max Corona went above and beyond my expectations. My experience was very positive and I am for the first time, very happy with my dental work.

I will be happy to speak with anyone who is interested in having dental work by Max Corona.   While you're there, enjoy the shopping, I did!

This testimony is being written in December, 2005 about the dental work Dr. Corona did for me in September of 2004. I think this letter is over due but I also think that it credits him even better because what he did remains in my mouth very well and strong and healthy. Hope you agree—that it proves a better testimonial. OK here is my story.

I live in mid-Idaho. A local dentist did a molar root canal that just got worse, face swollen, excruciating pain; I vomited up all the pain pills and he finally sent me to a dentist in town 2 hrs. away who diagnosed the point of one of the files in the bottom of one of the canals. (Point for local dentist – he did refund me all that I had payed for the root canal) The Lewiston dentist would not work on it but offered to inject me with pain killers while I just literally sat on the floor and cried because of the pain. He recommended me to an endo specialist in Spokane, now almost 4 hrs. from where I live. This guy took a digital computarized picture and wanted $900 to work on the root with no guarantee that he wouldn't have to pull it in the end and could not give me an appointment until 3 weeks in the future. More tears. Then I found Dr. Corona on the internet. Took bus (two days of buses and bus terminals and no sleep) to TJ.

Dr. Corona in one sitting cleaned up those root canals and did a second full molar root canal. I got right back on TJ bus to La Paz to visit my foster daughter and had my next appointment with Dr. Max for 1 week later on my way back. My full two crowns were ready and installed ( my terminology). During this appointment he also pulled a difficult wisdom tooth with decay in it.

I am 58 and have had A LOT of dental work done from braces at 12 yrs. old and on.  Believe me I could hardly be more grateful for Dr. Max Corona who  I consider the best dentist I have ever experienced in expertise and professionalism, very hard work, great savings$, compassion and dedication to his profession.

Sincerely,

Monday, Nov. 21, 2005: To. Dr. Max Corona:

I found you on the internet when I wrote in Google search "Dentists in Tijuana, Mex". I chose you because of your credentials. You studied the latest techniques of doing implants at  University of Loma Linda, in Redlands, CA. which is a very good school. I am too old for implants but I respected your dedication to keeping up with the latest scientific dental techniques. You spoke English beautifully so language was not a problem. I do not speak Spanish.
You did everything you said you could do when I consulted with you the first time. I was impressed by your precise explanation of what had to be done and the tour of your personal laboratory.  You were able to relieve my pain and discomfort that I have suffered during for the last ten years while under the care of several different dentists in San Diego.
In three short visits, you were able to make me new partials, both upper and lower, that fit perfectly with a few minor adjustments. You removed two painful teeth and did the necessary periodontal work gently and quickly. I did not have to go to other specialists for full service.
Furthermore, I did not have to borrow money to pay for your services. You charged me one-third the cost I was quoted in San Diego. You did what you promised to do.
You are a fine technician and an artist and a man who has integrity and honor. I like the way my teeth fit and look. I shall recommend you to all my friends and family.
You are worth crossing the border for. Not only that, there is a wonderful bakery and health foods restaurant for diabetics just around the corner. And delicious fresh fruit carts to buy cut fruits from afterwards. I  can eat again without pain. I am looking forward to my next appointment for teeth cleaning in four months.

In Nov ’06, I completed a major mouth restoration with Dr Corona.

I have had a lower partial for the last 40 years, and now it could no longer be fixed. I had a great deal of bone loss which require the use of implants to secure a lower denture.

Starting last July, on my first visit, he removed 8 teeth and install 4 implants to secure a fixed/removable denture. I had to wait 3 months for the bone to grow into the implants.

So 3 months later, I returned to have the male attachments installed on the implants, the temporary denture was fitted with the female attachments. On the upper, 7 old crowns were redone and 6 new one were prepped. That was exhausting…

3 weeks later, I came back for the final crowns and final denture. It took only 2 ½ hours to finish the process

The whole process was very professional, Dr Corona is a gentle man, and he loves what he is doing. The final crowns were perfect, he put them in and that was it, no grinding or filing was necessary! It took longer to locate the female attachments on the new denture.

Dr Corona uses the best tools and material available. You can get better prices in Mexico, but he gives you a professional product, at a very significant cost saving over my California dentist! I am very satisfied with my new smile!!
